Real-time invalid-traffic detection, inside the bidding window.
IVT AI is a plugin that scores every incoming ad request, impression and click for invalid traffic and returns a Clean, Suspicious or Blocked verdict before serving continues. The verdict is decided by rule-based scoring blended with an anomaly-detection model, with no large language model on that path. An AI explanation is optional and can never change the verdict.
The problem
Real-time bidding traffic needed fraud and invalid-traffic scoring without adding latency to the live serving path. A manual review queue can't keep up: by the time a person looks, the bidding window has closed.
How it works
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Incoming request | Every request enters the scoring path |
| 2. Feature extraction | Signals are pulled from the request |
| 3. Scoring | Rule-based weighted scores are blended with an unsupervised anomaly-detection layer |
| 4. Verdict | Clean, Suspicious or Blocked, returned before serving continues |
| 5. Explanation (optional) | A model turns the verdict into plain English; if it fails or times out, the verdict still returns |
| 6. Log | Every verdict is logged for audit |
The controls
| Control | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Rules decide | The machine-learning layer only adds signal, so verdicts are explainable |
| No LLM on the critical path | Speed and cost stay predictable |
| AI explanation can't change the verdict | A model error can't let fraud through |
| Tunable thresholds | Each platform sets its own tolerance |
| Fails safe | If a component fails, traffic is handled by the safe default, not guessed |
The result
Verdicts are fast enough to sit directly on the bid path without adding noticeable latency, and there's no manual review queue for the vast majority of traffic. The business result is that advertisers stop paying for fraudulent traffic and stay confident in the numbers.
Limits
Detection is only as good as its rules and signals. Thresholds need tuning per platform, and new fraud patterns need new rules. We don't publish client fraud rates.
Frequently asked
Does it add latency?
It's designed to sit on the live bid path without adding noticeable latency.
Why not let an AI model decide?
Because rules are explainable, fast and cheap. The model only explains a verdict that's already been decided.
Can we see it?
