About

Founder-led, built on real operating experience.

Secular Labs was founded to formalize and apply what running real-time advertising infrastructure taught us about automated coordination — then to bring that thinking to businesses outside AdTech.

Built on real operating experience — AdTech infrastructure, Production AI systems, Operating experience, Research program. Built on the AMEI framework
A note on the name

"Secular" is an economics term before anything else. A secular trend describes a long-run, structural shift — as distinct from a short-term or cyclical one (the same root behind "secular stagnation," the well-known framing for long-run economic slowdown). That's the sense intended here: research and advisory work aimed at durable, structural change in how businesses are organized — not a trend to ride, but a shift to build for.

Founder

Ram Kumar Rajagopal

Ram founded Secular Labs. His background is in building and directing AdTech infrastructure — platform strategy, marketplace mechanics, and delivery for international media networks — hands-on operating experience that now shapes how we think about automated coordination at Secular Labs. He holds an MSc in Software Engineering from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, is an alumnus of IIT Bombay, and holds a dual MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and IIT Bombay.

Alongside that, Ram researches the economics and systems architecture of AI-driven organizational automation — published as the AMEA and AMEE working papers, with further work submitted toward peer-reviewed and conference venues including SSRN, IEEE, and NBER-affiliated tracks. That research is what Secular Labs is built to apply commercially. Ram also works as an angel investor and advisor, having backed seed-stage companies across AgriTech, FinTech, SaaS, and deep tech since 2022, and advises founders on technical architecture and product due diligence for high-concurrency, AI-native systems.

Business Operations

Raja Mohammed Sheriff

Raja leads day-to-day business operations at Secular Labs, with a career spanning finance, HR, and independent e-commerce operations. His background includes senior finance and HR leadership roles across manufacturing and technology businesses, alongside hands-on experience running an independent D2C e-commerce operation end-to-end.

Raja is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode. His operating experience — including running a physical-product e-commerce business end-to-end — directly informs how Secular Labs approaches workflow design and operational reality checks.

Operations

How Secular Labs operates

How Secular Labs operates — Research (independent research program), Architecture (operating model design), Implementation (production deployment). Grounded in production experience.

Secular Labs pairs its research architecture with hands-on AdTech infrastructure experience — the operating discipline behind the papers, not just the theory.

The technical capability spans agent orchestration and applied AI, production-grade ad-serving and real-time bidding infrastructure, and the verification logic that keeps automated decisions accountable — paired with dedicated infrastructure and deployment expertise, so what we build is demoable and production-ready, not a one-off prototype.

Alongside the engineering work, a separate operations capability manages research, partnerships, and the administrative backbone that lets the technical work stay focused — from grant relationships to the applied research program itself.

We're a deliberately lean organization by design — the same architecture we advise other businesses to adopt is the one we run ourselves.

Beyond AdTech

As an AI-first lab, we occasionally take on product concepts outside AdTech that fit the same pattern — structured experimentation, sensor or data feedback, and AI-driven decision logic. One current example, still at an early concept stage, is an IoT-connected smart cooking platform that uses AI-driven profiles to standardize a manual, judgment-heavy process, developed through our COXBIT innovation-lab connection at TNAU Coimbatore. It's a small part of what we do, but a useful proof that the underlying architecture isn't specific to advertising.

Beyond AdTech — sensor-driven, AI-adjusted, standardized outcome. The same architecture pattern, applied across domains.
